Hi, I’m Saykat

I’m a retail accountant based in Bangladesh. For the past 2 years, I’ve been working at Lazz Pharma Ltd — a departmental store that sells both pharmaceutical and non-pharma products including baby care, cosmetics, and daily essentials.
My shift runs from 2 PM to midnight. In that time, I handle daily cash reconciliation, inventory accounts, and closing reports.
But from 10 PM onward, when the accounting work wraps up, I step onto the shop floor and help customers directly — suggesting products, handling requests, and making sure people leave with what they need.
That combination — numbers during the day, people at night — is what this blog is built on.
Why I Started CounterToCorner
When I first started in retail, I had to figure out almost everything on my own. How do you handle a customer who insists on a brand you’re out of stock on? How do you build trust with a manager? How do you close the daily accounts without errors at midnight when you’re tired?
I couldn’t find good answers online — especially answers from someone who actually works in a retail store, not someone writing from a classroom or a corporate office.
So I decided to write it myself.
CounterToCorner is for retail employees who want to get better at their jobs, and for small shop owners who want practical, honest guidance — not generic advice.
What I Write About

Everything on this blog comes from direct experience. The three main areas I cover are:
1. Retail Accounting — Daily cash reconciliation, inventory management, VAT basics, and the accounting processes that actually happen inside a retail store.
2. Sales & Customer Service — How to handle customers, suggest alternatives, upsell without being pushy, and deal with difficult situations on the shop floor. Real techniques I use every day.
3. Retail Career Growth — How to build good relationships with your manager And Managing Director, grow inside a retail organization, and develop the skills that get you noticed.
A Quick Note on Credibility

I’m not a professor or a certified consultant. But helped hundreds of customers find what they actually needed — sometimes that meant the product they asked for, and sometimes something even better
Every article on CounterToCorner is based on something I have personally done, seen, or learned on the job. If I don’t know something, I won’t write about it.
That’s my promise to you.✊
